Health and safety policy statement

Sporting Chance is strongly committed to encouraging everyone to take part, but the health, well-being and safety of each individual is always of paramount concern and ultimately a priority.

To support the Health & Safety policy statement Sporting Chance is committed to the following duties: 

  • Undertake regular, recorded risk assessment of the premises and all activities undertaken at Clubs and Holiday Camps.

  • Create a safe environment by putting health and safety measures in place as identified by the risk assessment.

  • Ensure that all participants are allocated to the appropriate groups by regularly assessing individual age, ability, and stages of development.

  • Ensure that all participants are aware of, understand and follow the company’s policy.

  • All leaders will be made aware of the policy and will assist with health and safety responsibilities as per the risk assessment for the activity / venue.

  • Ensure that normal operating procedures and emergency operating procedures are in place and known by all stakeholders.

  • Provide access to adequate first aid facilities, telephone, and qualified first aider at all times.

  • Report any injuries or accidents sustained during any activity or whilst on the premises to the correct people - internally and externally. 

  • Ensure that the implementation of the policy is reviewed regularly and monitored for effectiveness - making changes whenever necessary to uphold the highest standards of care. 

As a participant or carer of a participant you have a duty to:

  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by what you do or not do.

  • Co-operate with Sporting Chance staff members on health and safety issues. 

  • Correctly use all equipment provided / as instructed. 

  • Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for your health, safety or welfare.

  • Ensure you have adequate clothing, footwear, fluids, and medication (as required) for each session. Medication administration forms should be completed in advance of attendance or upon entry. 

  • Actively encourage and enforce the health and safety policy at all times and where necessary.


Health & Safety Officer: Spencer Davies

First Aid provisions and Protective Equipment: Location of first aid facilities: On site at all times; fully stocked first aid bag including any protective equipment for staff. Location of telephones: On site at all times; Staff leaders always carry mobile phones, and always have one as back up.
